    How do I order Genomind Professional PGx Express for a patient?

    Once you have determined that the Genomind® Professional PGx Express™ is right for your patient, get a test kit by completing our online order form or by calling us at:

    The test is commercially available for use by any licensed, prescribing clinician.

     

    How much will Genomind Professional PGx Express cost my patient?

    Coverage is for patients who have a diagnosis of a major depressive disorder or anxiety and have failed at least one prior medication to treat their condition. Depending on your patient's health insurance policy, the out of pocket expense may vary.

    Genomind Professional PGx Express FULL Mental Health Report™ (24 genes) is submitted for reimbursement to commercial and third-party payers, Medicare and some other government programs. Genomind has also created a Patient Assistance Program for those who qualify (US residents only).

    Does Medicare cover Genomind Professional PGx Express?

    Medicare reimburses for the CYP2D6 gene analysis portion of Genomind Professional PGx Express. This portion of the test is covered when the clinician is considering certain drugs for an initial therapy for treatment of depressive disorders or re-initiation of this therapy. The patient must have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder or bipolar disorder. For additional information, please reference www.cms.gov 

     

    How quickly will I receive the patient’s test results?

    After we receive the patient’s cheek swab sample at the lab and all paperwork has been validated, test results will be issued to the ordering clinician typically within 3 business days. Test results are available via our secure online Clinician Portal.

     

    How can I put the report to the best use for my patient?

    Genomind Professional PGx Express will quickly provide the important information and guidance for a patient’s genetic profile. We recommend using our complimentary consultative services to get the most from the results. Our pharmacogenetics experts will help you better understand the implications of these genetic biomarkers and answer questions specific to your patients.

     

    What recommendations will be offered?

    Genomind Professional PGx Express does not make treatment recommendations. The results offer guidance about your patient’s potential neurochemistry and drug metabolism, which can help inform your treatment decisions. Expect to see information about the specific genetic makeup of your patient based on our test. This information, along with your patient’s medical history and current condition, can help you tailor your treatment decisions.

     

    Can I get assistance in interpreting the test results?

    Yes, included with every patient test is access to Genomind’s expert staff, enabling you to consult with Genomind’s PhDs and pharmacists to help you navigate the connection between a patient’s genetic biomarkers and the implications for mental health treatment.

    They will be able to answer any questions you may have regarding the report and specific test guidance. Genomind’s “express” reporting and expert consultations enable a broad range of practitioners involved in mental health to use individual genetic profiles to make their treatment decisions, such as primary care and OB/GYN providers.

    Why is my clinician ordering Genomind Professional PGx Express for me?

    Genomind Professional PGx Express is a test that evaluates specific genes that may affect your body’s sensitivity or response to certain medications and other treatments. Genomind Professional PGx Express is the most advanced genetic test that looks at a group of key genes specific to a range of mental health treatments. Your clinician is ordering this test as guidance to help inform treatment decisions for you.

    What is the potential benefit of taking the Genomind Professional PGx Express test?

    In a recent study, clinicians reported 87% of their patients showed improvement with treatment guided by a Genomind test. They also reported improvement in 91% of patients who had failed at least two medications in the past. Genomind Professional PGx Express can quickly provide important insights into your genetic profile. This is true whether you’re new to treatment or your current treatment isn’t working.

    How does the testing process work?

    Genomind Professional PGx Express requires your clinician to collect just a small sample of your saliva by swabbing the inside of your cheek with a cotton swab. The test is safe and painless. The clinician will mail the sample to Genomind for testing. Test results are reported to your clinician within 3 business days after your sample is received at the laboratory.

    Can I order Genomind Professional PGx Express for myself?

    How soon will I know the results of the test?

    Genomind will send a test report directly to your ordering clinician within 3 business days after the cheek swab sample arrives at our lab.

    Can I see the results of my test?

    The test results will be provided directly to your doctor, who will discuss them with you. A modified, patient-friendly report will be available on the patient gateway 30 days after your clinician receives it. Register for the patient gateway. 

    What kinds of treatment recommendations will my clinician make for me?

    Genomind Professional PGx Express may aid your clinician in selecting appropriate medication. Together, you and your clinician will discuss a treatment plan based on the results of your test, combined with their own expertise, your medical history and your current condition. You should not change or stop any medication without speaking to your clinician.
